Ballet Program

Our school offer the Royal Academy of Dance ballet. The RAD, based in London, England, is the largest examining and teacher educational organization for ballet in the world and is offered in over 84 countries. The grades of ballet to not follow the same ages as public school grades. Our office staff can assist in selecting the proper class for a beginning ballet student. 


CREATIVE MOVEMENT BALLET CLASS

Division AII: 5 years old

This class is designed for young beginners, children 5 years old.  Students will continue to develop body awareness and coordination, flexibility and motor skills, musical sensitivity and rhythm, creativity and confidence.  At this level, students begin to learn ballet terminology and body conditioning.

Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes.

Students must be 5 years old.

Mandatory Dress Code:  (Except for Introductory Classes)
Girls: lavender leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes.  Hair is in a bun.
Boys: white ballet t-shirt, black tights, and black ballet shoes.

Every student's dance attire must match.  Uniform dance dress attire is available at MFAA retail store. 


CREATIVE MOVEMENT - BALLET CLASS

Division AIII: 6-7 years old

This class is designed for beginners, children 6-7 years old.  Students will continue to develop body awareness and coordination, flexibility and motor skills, musical sensitivity and rhythm, creativity and confidence.  Students continue to learn ballet terminology and body conditioning.

Classes meet once a week for 1 hour.

Students must be 6 years old.

Mandatory Dress Code:  (Except for Introductory Classes)
Girls: light blue leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes.  Hair is in a bun.
Boys: white ballet t-shirt, black tights, and black ballet shoes.

Every student's dance attire must match.  Uniform dance dress attire is exclusively available at MFAA retail store. 


CREATIVE MOVEMENT - BALLET CLASS

HOMESCHOOL CLASS: 3-6 years old

This class is designed  for beginners, children 3-6 years old, who are home schooled and are able to attend their classes in the morning.  Students will develop body awareness and coordination, flexibility and motor skills, musical sensitivity and rhythm, creativity and confidence.  Students will also learn classic ballet terminology and body conditioning.

Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes.

Students must be 3 years old.

Mandatory Dress Code:  (Except for Introductory Classes)
Girls: pink leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes.  Hair is in a bun.
Boys: white ballet t-shirt, black tights, and black ballet shoes.

Every student's dance attire must match.  Uniform dance dress attire is available at MFAA retail store. 


BEGINNING BALLET

Division BI: 8-10 years old

This class is designed around a structured classical ballet class for children around 8-10 years old.  Students will continue to develop body awareness and coordination, flexibility and motor skills, musical sensitivity and rhythm, creativity and confidence.  At this level, students are introduced to ballet barres. Students in this division are carefully evaluated by age, physical strength, and development.  Students are promoted according to individual progress in acquiring technique and strength.  

Classes meet twice a week for one hour.  Twice a week ballet technique classes are mandatory.

Mandatory Dress Code:  (Except for Introductory Classes)
Girls: white leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes.  Hair is in a bun.
Boys: white ballet t-shirt, black tights, and black ballet shoes.

Every student's dance attire must match.  Uniform dance dress attire is available at MFAA retail store. 


BEGINNING BALLET

Division BII: 11-13 years old

This class is designed around a structured classical ballet class for children 11-13 years old.  Students will continue to develop body awareness and coordination; flexibility and motor skills; musical sensitivity and rhythm; creativity and confidence.  Students will apply their acquired knowledge to classical ballet repertoire.  Dance combinations are longer and detailed.  Students in this division are carefully evaluated by age, physical strength, and development.  Students are promoted according to individual progress in acquiring technique and strength. 

Students must be 11 years old.

Classes meet twice a week for one hour.  Twice a week ballet technique classes are mandatory. Three classes a week is highly recommende

Girls: navy leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes.  Hair is in a bun.
Boys: white ballet t-shirt, black tights, and black ballet shoes.

Every student's dance attire must match.  Uniform dance dress attire is available at MFAA retail store. 


INTERMEDIATE BALLET

Division C: 14-17 years old

This class is designed for intermediate ballet students around the ages of 14-17 years old.  This level classes present students with a more challenging dance vocabulary.  Students focus on a serious ballet training and/or with a purpose of becoming a professional dancer. Students in this division are carefully evaluated by age, physical strength, and development.  Students are promoted according to individual progress in acquiring technique and strength. 

Classes meet three times a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes.  Three times a week ballet technique classes are mandatory.

Mandatory Dress Code:  (Except for Introductory Classes)
Girls: black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes.  Hair is in a bun.
Boys: white ballet t-shirt, black tights, and black ballet shoes.

Every student's dance attire must match.  Uniform dance dress attire is available at MFAA retail store.
